VegaCelli’s Homage to Valentino (A Gift for you)

Bahar Vega was in-love with this velvet dress when she first saw it on Sigrid Agren at a fashion show. (yes, we love Sigrid and Parker together even more!)

So we’ve implemented it into Second Life exclusively for her to wear. And now we are sharing it with Avenue Magazine Readers with no charge, paying our homage to Valentino.

Original dress is designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Pierpaolo Piccioli and their team for the Valentino 2011 Fall Collection.

“Marmaris” is inspired and named after the beautiful sea at the intersection point of the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

Elegant and revealing at the same time, the ‘Marmaris’ reveals a clean and delicate sweetheart neckline bodice with a single strap detail that wraps around the neck. The skirting is of pure sheer chiffon which uncover the shape of the legs in a very sophisticated and romantic way.

A sparrow stood at my window.

I said, “Where are you from?”
“From the limits of the sky,” she said.
I said “Where did you come from?”
“From the neighbor’s house” she answered.
I said, “What are you afraid of?”
“I escaped from the cage”, she said
I said “What happened to your feathers?”
“Fate took care of them,” she said.

A tear fell on her cheek.
Her wings tucked underneath her,
She landed on the ground and said
“I want to walk, but I can’t.”
I held her to my heart,
Hurting from her wounds,
Before she finally broke out of her jail
Her voice and wings were broken,

I said, “Do not fear,
See the sun rising?”

She looked toward the forest
Saw the tides of freedom glitter,
She saw wings flutter
Beyond the high gates.

She saw the forest flying on the wings of freedom…

While designing this mesh dress, we used real life textures from the walls of Sancta Sophia; a former basilica, later a mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul.
